ITS NOVA 2013 TIME!!!

Its official, CG2 is going to NOVA 2013! That’s right we will be dueling it out in the DC area once again. This will be our second time going to this event and I’m pretty stoked. My first NOVA experience was in 2011 during the Hurricane. It was well worth the 12 hour drive up Columbus, GA. Besides the Nice drive up, The Hotel was great. Top notch stay. I especially love the way NOVA host’s their GT. The bracket system after day one places you with your experience group or there about. So if you went 4-0 or 0-4, the next day you play people with the same score! This way it is still worth playing the next day, even though you won’t be GT champ.
Also to make the NOVA great was the hundreds of raffles they gave out. You got more chance to win if you stayed at the Hotel, lost games, and just showed up! I mean every time you finished a game, you checked the white board….and Bam new list of name with goodies waiting on them!! So if the dice god’s left you, there was always something to win. I even got a goodie bag!!

So I am looking forward to another great weekend hosted by Mike Brandt and his group of dedicated volunteers. Not only was it a great GT, but a great time had by all. So now my Hobby overdrive is in full NOVA gear. I still am waiting on a few things for my New Mech Guard force. The biggest is my paint from Badger. Next are the few models I ordered already. I really want to take a bit more time in doing this force. I want a little more FW bits to give the army its elite feel. I currently have my Chimeras and a Leman Russ on its way. So once this arrives and my paints..game on!

Things are slowing down a bit...

Hey gang,

Todd here from CG2. With the cooler air and falling leaves we welcome a change in season as well as pace for CG2. Well the NOVA open is behind us, and boy what a great time it was. Perfect way to end the summer. Todd W. also kicked but in Ard Boyz and is actually in the finals. What a very busy summer indeed. So after all this, a small break was in order to spend time with the family. I did play a little to many prep games and primers. So after a few weeks I am ready to pick up the dice.

To my surprise, things are slowing down a bit. Is CG2 shutting down? heavens no. The group is very much active. Tom, Kevin and the Warmaching guys have officially registered with Privateer Press and are in the active league. There is also some Pathfinder RPG action starting I do believe. So what am I talking about. Life...the real world is going to slow most of us down. Brian B. is getting ready to go off to some "Special Training", George N. is getting ready for a few shooting matches (Olympics here he comes) and myself has to go and train the new wave of Armored Crew members in the Army (Pvt's). Gene S. will also be busy with Army stuff and a future home coming of his household Governor (Wife).

So sadly you can see a large majority of our active group will be busy. So in advance we are sorry for the lack of video and gaming shenanigans in the future. So WTF CG2? Ok ok, I know so how will we end our season? APOCALYPSE!!!!! oh yeah finally right? Oct 15th is going down, Xeno Vs. Imperium. For a big bang we are throwing down. Brian, Gene, George, Todd x2 and possible Craig will be battling it out for a season finale! Of course there will be loads of video and pics!

Is that it CG2? No no, remember in January we will host the 2nd annual "RUMBLE ON THE RIVER" tournament. This will be our third event for the area and we are looking into making this one big!!! I'm talking maybe 2 day event big. So if your in the east Alabama, Georgia or Northern Florida area, look for upcoming info on it. As of now it will most likely be held in the same place as last year, Ft. Benning GA. Lunch will be included and Prizes will be bigger than the past events. Once again keep checking the facebook and this blog for more updates.

So friends that's about it. Once again we are not down or breaking up. Just keep looking for more updates as time goes on. Remember to look on the facebook for game link ups and so forth. Until then...Keep rolling those dice.

'Nother update

Hey guys, Kevin here, Figured I'd drop a line with some quick updates on the warmahordes front. Our group is growing and to quote Martha Stewart "Thats a good thing". We'd like to welcome Matt on board. He is knew to the area from the north west and brings alot of warmahorde event experience. Looking forward to working with him on the future of these systems in our area.
More to the current news, We are staring down the barrel of the opening rounds of our Journeymen League, the new sanctioned league setup by Privateer press. Anyone interested in joining our league feel free to contact us and we'll get you enrolled.

On a personal note I've picked up cygnar and dumping my menoth, just not really feeling them anymore. I got a good deal on a large part of my cygnar army from a swell fella named Geoff on bartertown, Thanks again. Also Tankertodd's working on a warmachine table for us, I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished, he defiantly knows his terrain. I'm sure one of the two of us will get pics up.
Oh and lastly anyone who has picked up space marine on xbox360 I and a few others are on xbox live with it too, Lordboximus82 us my gamer tag, feel free to hit me up.

Anyways that's it for now, dinner and homework time,

Kevin (Lordboximus)

Treefort Ard Boyz Experience (submitted for Todd W.)

This is a testomonial written by Todd W.

The Ard Boyz Tournament at Treefort games in Georgia has come and gone, and with CG2’s regular ass stomping of the competition. Of course it did not go off without a few hitches. For one thing as advertised the tourney was supposed to start at 1100, well we kicked off at 1230. Room for 40 players at Treefort games, and 8 showed up to play the first game. Of those 8 there were 3 elder players, 1 necron player, 1 vanilla marine’s player, 2 ork players, and my tyranids. Of all the armies represented that day none of them had very good list builds except for the two ork players and my nids. Everything else was all over the map with no continuity.
The first round I was in was with one of the ork players, 4 Battlewagons and two trucks, the normal Nobz squads and Ghazkull. Nothing too far out of the ordinary and as you can expect he charged straight into my front lines and with his lower initiative, he learned very quickly that that may not have been the very best of ideas. Too little to late as they say, took a massacre victory by beating him in kill points 16 to 4.
The second round was against an Eldar player by the name of Alvin or “Al” for short, but after hearing him talk for about one minute, I called him DOUSHBAG!!! SO the set up is Spearhead with 5 objectives being the game mission. So doushbags first order of business is to decide to keep his whole army hiding behind his one grav tank that is about 12 inches off his table edge but very close to the center line, which brought it VERY close to my two Tyrannofexs. My zoans led the way of course and in the middle of my first turn I had blown up his grav tank, he lost his HQ in the ensuing blast, and destroyed and entire squad of pathfinders that were foolishly in range of my zoans, 9 warp blasts later there was nothing but a smoking crater where his pathfinders used to be, 2+ cover save that doushbag. About this time doushbag started to open his mouth about how my list was illegal cause I had Tervigons in my list that were taken as troop choices and not HQ’s. After showing him the rule in the codex that allowed me to do just that as long as I also took 10 termaguants, he suddenly decided that quitting was the best way to screw me over by his way of thinking, he quit and took his 1 obj and I would take 4 objs and that would be how many points I would get. After a brief explanation with head ref about how much of a DOUSHBAG this guy was I got another massacre victory while he got 0 points for quitting like a girl.
The third and final round found me up against the necron player by a HUGE surprise. Also by this point where we had started with 8 players, we were now down to 4 cause of other doushbags quitting because they did not feel as if they were doing all that good. Well the setup for this game was Dawn of War with victory points being the scenario. He got the first turn and put out his Ctan in the middle of the board, I chose at that time to walk my whole army on turn one since there was no benefit to me to do anything else turn one. He foolishly moved his Ctan right towards my line on his first turn and he found out what 9 zoans can do with their warp lances. His Ctan down turn 1 with a Monolith of his gone after turn 2, he was reeling backwards and decided a gun line would be better than anything else he could muster to take care of the swarm. It took me 4 rounds moving cover to cover to get my Hormagaunts in range to assault but as soon as they closed on my turn 5 his entire army phased out in an eerie glow to quote the necron codex.
Overall another tournament at Treefort with another dominating performance by members of the Columbus Gaming Group, but overall an underwhelming experience at that game store due to the DOUSHBAGS that play at that location. I also had the chance to talk to John who was the store owner of Treefort and expressed to him the reason that we do not take the travel time to play and buy at his store is because of the doushbags he allows to play in his tournaments. My suggestion to him was if not for a viable excuse, if anyone chooses to quit a tournament at his store, then that person will be banned from tournament play at his store. Best way to upgrade his reputation in my book to tell ya the truth. Also if you want an easy win at future events Treefort is the way to go, just keep in mind the fact that doushbags will be run into, and it would be like playing your sisters kids.
